"We are women, and my plea is Let me be a woman, holy through and through, asking for nothing but what God wants to give me, receiving with both hands and with all my heart whatever that is."

Elisabeth Elliot is one of my favorite authors. In one of her books, "Let me be a Woman", a book that she wrote to her daughter before her daughter got married, I read something that I will always remember. She wrote to her daughter about what a wonderful season of life she was in -- so many exciting things to be enjoyed and exciting things to hope for the future. The thing that I will always remember is her saying that all of these things were good things, wonderful things, but still not the BEST thing. She reminded her that the BEST thing will always be Jesus. Sometimes when I am enjoying something (especially my recent engagement which is a WONDERFUL thing!) I always remind myself that it is a good thing--but it is not the Best. The best, my only real Good, is Jesus.

All of us at one time or another have convinced ourselves that if we could just get to another season of life (i.e. get a job, get married, have a baby, etc...) then we would be fulfilled. All of us that have had those thoughts, and gotten to our season we have desired, have probably found out that a different circumstance just can't fulfill us.

I've been continually challenging myself to enjoy the Lord no matter the season. Will the next season really finally satisfy us? Only Jesus can, and when we give Him that position (in good seasons, bad seasons, and in the middle seasons) it allows Him to move us on to a new season when He is in the place where He should be.

Even the wonderful season of life which I feel like I am in now cannot be enjoyed correctly without acknowledging: He will always be better!
